Fatigue Management Course

Fatigue Prevention for Employees

For who: Shift workers, Drivers, etc.

Duration: 2 -4 Hours (depending on scope)

Main subjects covered: Practical guidelines and strategies regarding managing fatigue in and out of the workplace, touching on environmental, ergononmic and lifestyle factors.

Outcome: The worker will have awareness regarding causes of fatigue, will be able to recognise it with himself and others and can facilitate measures to control their own and/or their peers fatigue. The employee is aware of his/her own responsibility with regards to the procedures that are set out in the company's fatigue management strategy.

Fatigue Management Course

Fatigue Management in the workplace

For who: Key personnel that are responsible for setting up and implementing the fatigue management policy (Production Managers, General managers, Occupational health practitioners, SHEQ coordinators, Quality managers, HR Managers, etc).

Duration: 1 day

Main subjects covered: What is fatigue; Causes & effects of fatigue; Regulations as set out by the DMR; Guidelines and controls regarding work, environmental, ergonomic, organisational and lifestyle risk factors that influence fatigue; Strategies and available controls for supervisors and SHE reps in micro managing possibly fatigued employees; Main elements of a Fatigue Risk Management Plan. 

Outcome: The students will have an increased awareness of fatigue as a possible hazard. The students will be able to analyse their current policy and change their strategies accordingly, as well as implement controls that are most effective for their own unique situation. The students will be able to evaluate possible fatigue risks in the workplace by using the supplied Fatigue Risk Identification Tool.

Course material supplied: A holistic background manual on Fatigue Management; Fatigue Risk Identification Tool.
