Applied Ergonomics in (South) African Industry (aligned to NQF 5-6)

Basic ergonomic principles; Standards, Current and upcoming Legislation and developments; Work Related Musculoskeletal Disorders (WMSD); Manual Material Handling & Biomechanics of lifting; Static & Dynamic work postures; Workstation design and anthropometrics (layouts, work heights, reaches, sitting, standing & sit stand workstations); Identification and measurement of possible workplace risks; Guidelines & Strategies; Engineering, administrative & training controls; Completion of practical assignment.

| Outcome: |
Identify, Measure and Manage ergonomic risks effectively and reliably. The student will be able to use the supplied Ergo-Risk Evaluation Tools to evaluate and quantify risks, and thus also provide reliable and easy to understand feedback to management.
